UPSL Top Goal Scorer, Queensboro FC II Forward Jonathan Santillan Signs for Austin FC 

This 2023 season, Austin FC have announced that they have signed UPSL Top Goal scorer and 18-year-old Queensboro FC II forward, Jonathan Santillan to their MLS Next Pro roster. After a UPSL career that includes taking Queensboro all the way to the UPSL National Finals and finishing as Playoffs Top Goal scorer, the striker now joins Austin on a two-year deal.  

Hailing from Anaheim, California, Santillan spent four years with the LA Galaxy Academy before joining Queensboro in 2022. Last year he scored 30 goals for Queensboro FC II and went on to score four goals in a single match in his US Open Cup debut. 

“I’m very blessed and humbled to sign with Austin FC II,” said Santillan. “It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract with this club. I’m excited for this new challenge and step up in my career.” 

Queensboro FC II finished the 2022 UPSL Spring season as the Northeast American conference champions with an undefeated record at home. Santillan spent the regular season averaging almost a goal a game and was able to take his team on an incredible 10-game undefeated streak that culminated in a UPSL National Finals Third-place finish. 

Austin FC Interim Sporting Director Sean Rubio noted “Jona is a talented young player who we’re excited to welcome to Austin FC II…(he) has impressive experience with LA Galaxy Academy and Queensboro FC II.” 

With Match Week 3 concluding this past weekend, Austin FC II currently sit in fourth place with an undefeated record. Santillan has two appearances so far this season as he aims to break into a well-oiled attacked lineup. The team face sixth-placed side North Texas SC in their upcoming match.
